Torture inflicted in detention
Aziz Mohammed was arrested on 17 January 2009 by the Political Security branch in the province of al-Raqqa. He was held in detention until recently when he was transferred from prison to the National Hospital in Damscus after his health deteriorated due to the torture inflicted in detention. The staff at the al-Fayhaa branch of Political Security have informed his family that Aziz Mohammed has been sent back to al-Raqqa, however, despite attempts by his family to find his whereabouts, how serious his condition is, and what charges are being brought against him, there has been no information given.
