Kurdish man disappears after a raid on his home
Human Rights Organization in Syria – MAF and Kurdish Organization for Defending Human Rights and Public Freedoms in Syria – DAD report that a patrol of the Hassakeh branch of Political Security raided the home of Muslim Hussein Abbas in Derbasiyah on Sunday, 12 September 2010. He was taken to an unknown destination, and there has been no news of him since that time.
There was no court order produced at the time of the arrest.
Muslim Hussein Abbas was born in 1975, he is married and has five children.
MAF and DAD condemn the continuing unlawful and arbitrary arrests of Kurds by the Syrian authorities.

Mohammed Saadoun – trial postponed again
According to Kurdish Organization for Defending Human Rights and Public Freedoms in Syria – DAD, the trial of Mohammed Saadoun was postponed again on 15 September. He was not produced at Court.
The trial was held again on 19 September when he was brought to court. His defence lawyer, Mustafa Osso who is Chair of the Board of Trutsees of DAD, announced that his client pleads ‘not guilty’.
The case was adjourned to 3 October 2010

Hunger striking Kurds collapse

We have tried in vain to call out the Danish authorities to reconsider/review our cases and as a last resort have now gone on hunger strike. One of our comrades have been admitted to the Rigshospital Trauma Center after having thrown up blood yesterday, but he is now out of the hospital and has re-joined the hunger strike at the tent in front of Denmark’s parliament at Christiansborg Slotsplads, now reaching day 7. Kurdish activist Abdelkarim Hussein was released and has applied for asylum to UNHCR in Turkey
According to Gemyakurda.net, a website that focuses on Kurdish news in Arabic language, Kurdish activist Abdelkarim Hussein was released on 2 September 2010 after an order was made prohibiting him from leaving Syria unless he has the consent of Political Security in Aleppo.
Abdelkarim Hussein was told that he must report to Political Security in Aleppo within 24 of his release however his family feared he would be detained again like Khaled Kengo, who was rearrested by the State Security Branch in Qamishli. Abdelkarim Hussein managed to leave Syria secretly, and fled to Turkey across the border, arriving on 8 September 2010 where he applied to United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees for international protection.
Abdelkarim Hussein had been forcibly removed from Norway on 19 August 2010 and was arrested at Damascus International Airport. He was transferred to the Political Security Branch in Damascus. There were calls from civil society and human rights organizations in Syria and Norway not to deport him for fear of being arrested, but the Norwegian authorities continued to forcibly deported him to Syria. Kurdish detainee, Riad Ahmad Khalil has died in prison in Syria
The Media Institute of Western Kurdistan Society, the Syrian Committee for Human Rights – MAD and the Kurdish Organization for Defending Human Rights and Public Freedoms in Syria – DAD report that Riad Ahmad Khalil, born 1968, from Afrin in the province of Aleppo, died in mysterious circumstances on 28 August 2010 whilst in the detention of by Syrian security services. Riad Ahmed Khalil was arrested with his two sons, Ahmad and Damhat, about two months ago by the Political Security branch in Aleppo.
According to information received, the security authorities reported that Riad Ahmad Khalil died on 28 August 2010 due to internal bleeding in the stomach. His close family said that he was not suffering from any symptoms of life-threatening diseases, or health problems. Read more
Another arbirtrary arrest of a Kurdish man in Syria
Kurdish Organization for Defending Human Rights and Public Freedoms in Syria –DAD reports that a patrol of the State Security Branch in Qamishli arrested Emad Askan Ahmed at about 11pm on Friday 27 August 2010, without a warrant or court order. He was taken to an unknown destination, and his whereabouts remain unknown at the time of writing.
Emad Askan Ahmed born 1975, from the Qamishli area is married with six daughters. He is a contractor, and is suffering from kidney disease. Read more
Where is my brother Tahsein Mamo?

Aiysha Mamo has asked International Support Kurds in Syria Association – SKS for assistance to discover the circumstances and whereabouts of her brother Tahsein Mamo who has disappeared in the Syrian prison system. Aiysha who lives in Germany said, ‘I would do anything to find my brother. I think about him every day, I miss him so much’.
Tahsein’s cousin, Yaseen Mamo has also expressed his deep concern about what may have happened, and spoke of how their lives had been affected by his disappearance.
Tahsein, born 1980 in Afrin is married with one son. He lives in Aleppo. He was arrested with four other people at the end of January 2007 during a raid by a patrol of military security officers, and they were taken to the branch of military security in Aleppo, and then on to the Investigation Branch of the military security in Damascus.
