Sheikh Abdul Razaq Jengo arrested at Aleppo Airport, Syria.

SKSDADKurdish organisation for the defence of human rights and general liberties in Syria – DAD reports the arrest of Sheikh Abdul Razaq Jengo, on 1 January 2010. He was arrested in Aleppo’s International Airport by the airforce intelligence branch as he prepared to travel to visit his family in the United Arab Emirates.

Sheikh Abdul Razaq Jengo was born in 1948 in Qamishli, and studied Islamic law at Damascus University. He taught religion in the schools of Qamishli, and he also taught religion in schools in United Arab Emirates before retiring due to his age, when he returned to live in Syria. He is well-known and respected, and his arrest is condemned by the Kurdish organisation for the defence of human rights and general liberties in Syria – DAD.
